Detained in the Valley? We ask for the bond hearing.
¿Detenido en el Valle Central? Pedimos la audiencia de fianza. Family can call. Fresno, Madera, Tulare, Kings, Kern and Merced counties. Federal immigration matters only.
If someone you love was taken by ICE
Most people who call are not the one in custody. They're a wife, a mother, a brother or a friend. You don't need power of attorney to ask a question. Have the person's full name, their A-number if you have it, where they're being held, and any bond amount already set. With those, I can tell you on the first call whether a bond hearing is available and what it takes.
Many people detained in California can ask an immigration judge to set a bond. A bond hearing is a chance at release while the case goes on. It is not a promise of release, and the judge decides.
Where people from the Valley are held
People arrested in the Central Valley are often held at Golden State Annex and the Central Valley Annex in McFarland, Mesa Verde in Bakersfield, or California City. Where the person is held affects which court hears the case and how the hearing happens. I confirm both before we file anything.
What I handle for Valley families
- Bond hearings: asking an immigration judge to set or lower a bond.
- Removal defense: asylum and cancellation of removal in immigration court.
- Family petitions: filed with USCIS, done right the first time.
How we work together from here
Calls and video first, so nobody has to travel to start. Documents come in through a secure link. When a meeting in person makes sense, we set one up.
Licensing, plainly
I'm licensed in Mississippi (Bar #103232) and registered with the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR ID SS717630). Immigration law is federal, so I can represent people in immigration court and before USCIS anywhere in the country. I am not a member of the California State Bar, and in California I handle federal immigration matters only. If what you need is a California state-court case, I'll say so and point you to a California lawyer.
The same practice, the same answers.
