EOIR, USCIS, and the long road.

Asylum, cancellation of removal, family-based petitions. Memphis Immigration Court regular. Spanish-speaking clients welcome. Mississippi Bar #103232 · EOIR ID SS717630.

The direct answer

If you have a removal proceeding scheduled at the Memphis Immigration Court, an affirmative asylum application stuck in a USCIS queue, or a family petition you're trying to file correctly the first time — these are matters I handle every week. The first step is a 90-minute consult ($350) that produces a written memo with my honest recommendation on whether you have a viable case, what the timeline looks like, and what it will cost end-to-end.

Mississippi & Memphis IC procedure

Mississippi has no immigration court of its own. Removal cases for north Mississippi residents are heard at the Memphis Immigration Court under EOIR. USCIS affirmative work — asylum interviews, family petitions, naturalization — runs through the New Orleans and Memphis field offices.

Who I represent

Asylum applicants (affirmative and defensive), respondents in cancellation of removal cases (LPR and non-LPR), family-based petitioners, and people navigating adjustment of status. I do not currently take EB-5 or PERM work.

If you're already in removal proceedings

Bring me your Notice to Appear, any prior counsel's appearance, the next hearing date, and any country-conditions evidence you've already collected. I'll tell you on the first call whether you have a defense, what it costs, and what we'd need to start building.

— FAQ

Questions I get a lot.

What's the Memphis Immigration Court like?+
Backlog is multi-year. EOIR rules apply. Master calendars are short and procedural; individual hearings are where the case is actually tried. I appear there regularly. EOIR ID SS717630.
Do you speak Spanish?+
Conversational. For substantive matters I work with a certified interpreter so nothing is lost.
How are asylum and cancellation fees structured?+
Tiered flat fees quoted after a 90-minute consult ($350) that includes a written memo with my recommendation. You'll know what the whole engagement costs before you sign anything.
What documents should I bring to the first call?+
Your Notice to Appear (NTA), any prior counsel's appearance, the next hearing date, any USCIS notices, your passport or other identity documents, and any country-conditions evidence you've already collected. The more you bring, the more specific the read I can give you.
Will you take a case from a respondent who already has counsel?+
Generally only if existing counsel withdraws or the relationship is genuinely broken. I won't poach. If you're unhappy with current representation, the first call I'd recommend is the hard conversation with your current lawyer — most issues get fixed there.
Next step

Bring the NTA. We'll start there.

Twenty-minute orientation call is free. If you're closer to needing the full 90-minute consult and memo, we'll go straight to that.
